Question on seat foam

AH Spares charges 27.50 pounds for one seat foam (I'm not complaining, just context). I'm toying with the idea of going with steel racing seats so as to get the head/spinal protection and a 4 point seat belt compatible seat. Can anyone advise as to the quality/specification/source to purchase foam suitable for 2 or 3 inches of seat 'bottom', as these seats will need complete upholstery/foam to make them civilized (i.e. comfortable) enough for my tender posterior. Thanks!
 
I used AH Spares for their foam and seat covers and a CA company on eBay for a new seat bottom. Everything was good quality and I'm very pleased with the results, but it's still a 1960 Bugeye with a solid spear for a steering column and a weight closer to a large motorcycle than a modern car. High back seats with a headrest can help in a rear ender, think Miata seats, but that really changes the appearance of the car. I think just about everything we try to do to make these cars safer really makes us think they are safer, but the reality is...
That said, I'm installing 3 pt retractable belts and driving like it is a motorcycle...not afraid, but very aware.

Fully concur (and I just did a bit over a thousand miles yesterday on my Buell, to qualify for the 'Iron Butt' award: 1000 miles in less than 24 hours. And dang near hit a deer need the end of the ride, about 3:00 am. Stopped and looked at the milky way though (twice); stopped (twice) to watch northern lights as well. Had a fellow stop behind me when he saw me pull off (northern lights) about 1:00 am: recognized that it was a motorcycle and wanted to make sure everything was fine. He was heading in to Calgary to fly up to Fort Mac and the oil sands for work.
The LED tail & brake lights are pretty much essential to keep your rear end in good shape.
I want to add a roll bar - not for rolling the car, but for protection about being t-boned and/or rolled over in an intersection. Also to provide a mount for 3 point belts - laps only at the moment.
But back to the original question: any wisdom as to foam density, specifications, thickness etc. for making a comfortable seat? Norman Nock recommended getting a hole saw and removing some of the foam from the stock Big Healey seats. Thanks
