Question on rebuilding Stromberg carb

For reference;
The two on the left are plunger type; on the far right the Grose jet

With all the flak from proponents of th' gawdawful things, I'll jus' shut up an' sit down.

:devilgrin:

Last time I drove a car with Grose jets, I was just tooling down the road at about 45 mph when I suddenly smelled fuel VERY strongly. Lifted the hood and found fuel gushing from the front carb overflow.

Threw the Grose jet away, reinstalled the "old and inferior" original valve (which the owner had thoughtfully saved in the on-board spares), problem solved.

Gross jets are a solution without a problem, IMO. If it ain't broke ...

Thanks for the photos and all the information. I will end up sticking to picking up just a regular needle valve when I rebuild. I don't want to cause more problems
