TR4/4A Question on inner tie-rods for TR4a

Hi guys - starting to put stuff back together with some of the hacks I found I'm wondering if there is anything I should be checking for on the inner tie-rods. Making sure they are evenly threaded in or??

Thanks!

I'd be interested too. I can detect play in my right front inner tie rod of my TR4A. Last year I researched a few options ranging from:
a) doing it all myself with parts (cup, ball, washers/shims) from TRF
b) sending it to TRF to be rebuilt
c) going to the mechanic (always last resort)

The rebuild option looked the most promising as it cost only ever so slightly more than the parts if doing it myself. However, I also read these things are screwed on so freakin' tight I may incur some damage when removing if I am not careful.

My car is fully assembled and on the road now so access to the inner tie rod is not great.

I think you should simply check to see if they have any play. I don't think they are too hard to R&R, as I recall doing it at one time or another. I am now running a rebuilt rack from TRF that has given me no trouble.

Easy to adjust, but don't shim the cup too tight. Did that in my youth and had it break going round a roundabout.
