Im not sure why, but im kinda giddy to finaly get it. Its neat to see its origins and all its details. Heres a question on that note: In the "Details of Factory Fitted Equipment" one of the options is "dual vertical dip headlights. What are those... are they the normal headlights just called something fancy? it also lists "laminated windscreen"...??????

Thanks guys

Tim

Re: Question on "factory options" on new BMIHT Cer

Hi Tim,
Laminated windscreen was just the term of the day for safety glass. A thin section of flexible plastic was laminated between two sheets of glass.

Don't know about the vertical dip lights. Standard lights of the day usually dipped (low beam) down & to the left if the car was intended to be driven on the left side of the road. They were dipped to the right for cars driven on the RH side of the road. I've read that many of the early cars were shipped to the US without lights & the receiving dealer could fit whatever worked with the local road laws. Vertical dip would not matter which side of the road. I hope someone has more knowledge of this.

Re: Question on "factory options" on new BMIHT Cer

No Reid, the head lamps actually dip to one side or the other. I "think" they dip to the same side as the side of the road which the country drives on. UK drives on the left side, lamps dip left or the other way around . However, US Dot Regulations require that the head lamps be changed when non conforming cars are brought into the US. My Daimler dips to the left, never changed the lamps, but they won't blind anyone but its own driver /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I have never heard of "Vertical Dip" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif--????-Keoke

timbn2,your question got me to check out my h.c.,under "factory fitted equipment" it lists, wire wheels, adj. steering, lam. windscreen, white wall tires, tonneau cover.no mention of head lamp configuration.im wondering if some cars didnt have the "dip" feature,or why would they mention it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Re: Question on "factory options" on new BMIHT Cer

Anthony, do you think it's notable that yours doesn't mention engine? Perhaps it omitted "dip" for fear of offending?

Re: Question on "factory options" on new BMIHT Cer

shg,it does give engine numbers perhaps because there were never any engine "options" is why they dont list it in the "factory fitted equipment" hay how are you doing with the part your considering having chromed/powder coated etc?,i think you should open a thread on that one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif
