Question on clips

Is there a more cost effective way of fastening the letters on the sill than all those little clips at a buck a pop? I want them to stay on well, so I don't want to use rtv silicone or anything, but what have others used? This little bits are killing my wallet and slowing me up.

Trim adhesive goo. Although, I bought the plastic clips at a swap meet for $5 ... so there is probably another source cheaper than MOSS.

Mine are not clips, but little clear plastic inserts. Maybe I used the wrong things, but they are still holding tight 5+ years later.

Small plastic drywall screw inserts like those cheap things that come with towel bars to attach to sheetrock.
They don't hold towel bars in sheetrock but the 1/8" ones work fine on MIDGET letters. $2 buys about 100 of them at most home center. But be sure to get the tiny ones and you might have to cut them off just a bit. I used them some time back and I think they needed a bit of finesse but they worked fine.
Weatherstrip adhesive works too if you are very neat with your gluing techniques. (I'm not)

I will look for this sprite nut. I have another question for ya'll. Its been years and I have no Idea what fasteners I need for the rubber piece that goes around the edge whre the top mounts. If anyone has any pictures of this I would surely appreciate it. I will have the top, plus use a tonneau some and a top cover when the top is down when I have a passenger.
