Isn't there a screw in the bottom? Just remove it and pull the bottom of the ring out and then up.

Very early ones have a screw at the bottom, but they still snap on, so need to be payed off from the bottom. Later ones just snap on, and still need a little persuasion from the bottom.

Mine have a screw in the bottom. Even once that is out, they need to be turned before coming off.

LOL.. d*mn auto correct...

LMAO at this moment - I didn't even catch that - I typed "I thought it was from the bottom" meaning "I was pretty sure it was from the bottom of the trim ring" never even noticed. doh!

Years ago I did a wedding where the bride, checking on the arrangements at the reception hall, slipped and broke her ankle the Wednesday before the wedding. On the day of the wedding she had to get married sitting in a chair as she couldn't stand (fortunately not the first wedding for either so not AS urgent) I was reading their wedding text, part of which is Psalm 121:3. Half the congregation literally dissolved into hysterics (and I mean Rubber Chicken Hysterics) and the other half - including me - had it go right over our heads. In retrospect one of the funniest weddings I have ever performed.

Well I got the rings off with only minor finger damage. This was because the low beam on one side didn't work and I wanted to swap lights to see if it was the bulb or the wiring. Turns out it just needed adjusting as I swapped and both work fine now.

BTW a number of years ago I bought a trim removal set from Harbour Freight - a REALLY cheap and handy way to save your paint! I use it much more often than I would have thought.

I have a similar set from Harbor Freight - their #95214. They call it a Nylon Pry Bar set. I use it when I remove my hub caps as it doesn't scratch the paint like a metal tool would do.

So now all you have to do is figure out your horn challenge.
