Did the factory ever put a high performance engine, as an option, in an MGB? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif PJ
 
There where “Works” vehicles. Factory racing variants with massaged engines intended for flying the factory banner in racing. But I don’t believe these where ever offered to the average buyer.

There was a list of factory "Special Tuning" bolt on bits that could be ordered; although I don't believe these were ever bundled into an option.

There were also some dealer massaged specials (University Motors in London, Downton) that took factory cars and added go-faster bits.
