Question-clutch judder

No other word for it when letting the clutch out in first or reverse I get a judder.

Have a used, looked good, pressure plate and disk in there, all else new. Flywheel was resurfaced.

What causes this exactly? The springs in the pressure plate worn or the springs in the disk or the disk has hardened over the years or what?

Any ideas guys?

Disc warped by temporarily hanging transmission on the hub when installing. Oil will also cause it if its been oily for a while. A disc slips at first, then it judders. Broken clutch cover spring.

Oh well, Jack, you were gonna pull the engine to check your oil press. prob.! Now you have another job too! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Don't forget to check your engine mounts also. If they are loose or deteriorating they can allow an engine to judder when you release the clutch even if the clutch is in perfect shape.

Doug makes a very good point Jack, though I'd imagine you have new ones, they could have not been tightened enough!

New mounts, and tight.

I think maybe the disk was oil soaked in a past life.

Yep three things to do with engine out, Oil pump, clutch disk, and smooth the 1st 2ed gear detent.
