question bout axles

crap. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

how did you know that was where I was going? lol I cant decide on a ford 8" or a mazda gsl rear....

any idea what some of the racing axles are rated for? I am looking at 175-200 hp at the crank.

Well, a very highly prepped 1275 in racing trim will squeeze out about 150 HP, so take your choice. They'll either twist or snap stock axles in a heartbeat, and I've seen them do the same to racing axles. Not many, but it does happen.
I don't think the diff will hold up under those numbers of yours, either.

Lol. Find a whole donor rx7. Pre- 13b had a solid axle, Find one with ablown motor and a 5spd than you got all you spares. Just need the 13b. Look to Moser for customizing those rx7 axles. A Spridget rear setup to handle that kinda hp will surely cost you more than shortening an rx7 rear.

yeah...sounds like I will stick to the plan of using a mazda rear....I think I can even swap in the LSD diff from a later GSL SE. I may end up going with a 12a in lieu of the 13b. Its a little bit shorter in length, comes set up for a carb and with a little bit of porting puts me right in my horsepower goals.

Thanks!

yes its a very good looking car. Im going to keep my conversion abit more simple than that. there are a handful of websites that cover the swap to a rotary engine. my goal is to do no cutting (or atleast very little as my heater shelf has already been removed) and come up with motor and tranny mounts that bolt in where the original ones did. the front mounts ive got figured out using some polyurethane mounts for an rx-7...should be pretty simple....the tranny mount I will have to figure out. get the rear axle narrowed, redrilled and the driveshaft shortened and wallah! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
