Question about fun car outings

Hi guys,
There are several British and other sports car owners located here in eastern NC who would like to get together for some fun outings. We have had some trips to local state parks and such, but would like to move up a notch for outings. I don't think we are ready for a ralley or autocross, but there must be something in between that we could do. I have heard of "poker runs" but do not know the particulars. What could we do to get out feet wet without getting very serious or complicated at this stage?
Thanks,
Charlie

How about a Funkana. You predrive a route and make up a list clever questions that challenges powers of observation. For example, "What color is the North house." when the "North House is a picture of a house on a Bank North billboard. People drive the route and those with the most right answers win. Don't make it too difficult but throw in a couple of zingers. Another one I did was a Murder Mystery Austin Healey style.

I think "Poker Runs" are the most fun. We've enjoyed several and their easy to set up. They do require more assistans as someone needs to be at each check point to hand out cards. You just set up a route somewhere, include stops (doesn't matter how many) where participants choose a card. At completion of the route whoever has best poker hand wins. I would suggest you have the assistants initial each card they hand out to minimize cheating.

Funkhana's are nice to but be wary that they need to be set up for BIG Healey's not sprites.
