Question about a Powermiser hot water heater

[ QUOTE ]
Ditto on the softener.

My parents have an electric water heater which still works great. They installed it after the moved in....in 1962....and bought it used.

If it is that hard to get the elements out, sounds to me like you may have corrosion such that if you apply enough force to remove them, the tank will be damaged. A bigger wrench isn't the answer here.

Between this and what Tony said, a small shot of deep creep might do the trick, and wouldn't hurt anything if it didn't work.

Our water is supplied by the Tennessee-American Water Co. from the Tennessee River.

I've considered getting an instant-on hot water system, but there aren't any good places to put them anywhere but under the kitchen sink. Having to re-pipe the whole house to put one in that would take care of the entire water system doesn't make them any more compelling.

Do you have to live near a volcanic hotspot to have geothermal hot water?

Our current heater is around 60 gallons. It's just the two of us, 1.5 baths, dishwasher, and washing machine that's set to Cold most of the time.

This has been an interesting discussion.
