question about a 1500 heater valve?

My 79 midget has had the heater valve removed. I am going to attempt to install a valve but I dont know how the hoses were attached to the original valve. One of my heater hoses has a "t" so im safe there but the other side goes directly to my carb choke and has no "t". anyone know or have a pic of how a heater valve fits into the 1500 cooling system?

A pic without a water choke might help. I havent been able to find any kind of a schematic on this cooling system yet.Heck for all I know the hoses on my car may be all wrong.

I have a manual choke on mine, and I will try to get a picture of it for you.
 
Actually, already had one, and I am attaching it here. You will notice that one line comes from the intake manifold into a T, then it goes to feed the valve. From the other side of the valve, it goes into the lower connector on the heater core. The upper hose from the core then goes down to the block.

The red line that comes off the T bypasses the valve and the core, and goes right down to another connector on the block. You will also notice that the valve is leaking nicely. I have since rebuilt this with some gasket and a new O-Ring. Seems to be holding.

I will try to get you a picture of the block connectors when I get home tonight.

And yet another mod i have.Seems I have a weber carb and a set of headers on my 79! I didnt know any better but after Ii saw the pics Irealized something was different. It seems to me the hoses on your engine should go to the same as mine so I'd still appreciate any info you were going to share. Thanks again for replying,

heres a pic of mine with a werber manual choke, i do not run thru the intake manifold, the black hose runs up front .

In your pic, the black hose runs to the thermostat housing? where is the red line coming from? I'm guessing it's coming from a metal line with a "t" built in it that run along the right side of the engine from the water pump?

Here is a bit better pic. it was dark last night and i really couldnt see what i was photographing. Yes the black hose runs to the thermostat housing. it used to run thru the manifold, but i decided to try it without going thru there. i also fabricated a heatshield and mounted it where the coolant cup used to be. you can see it there below the word canon on the intake.

Wow you guys are great! I think I've figured it out. Excellent advice, photos, and drawings. This forum is a fantasatic tool. Again I thank everyone who helped out.

if you are going to install a valve from another midget, take the 5 minutes to rebuild it. It is just an O-ring and a new gasket. I had a spare o-ring, and I made the gasket from a roll of blank gasket material. If you put in another type of valve, let me know what type you decided on. I just rebuilt mine to stop the leaking, but the cylinder is so worn that it will still seep if the valve handle is not properly centered. I am thinking of going with something else this winter...
 
I hate to say this but since I couldn't find a valve I'm installing a brass one from home depot. I figure if it dont work, I'll take it out. My car is far from show quality so it won't affect it's value. I just dont want heat in the summer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

The valves are difficult to come by. I haven't seen any of them on ebay. You would think all the people parting these cars out would catch on to how rare these vavles are. I've seen a few pictures of brass ball valves in place of heater bypass valves so I don't think you are alone on that one.
