What's this rubber stuff called here (where it's ripped up and the red paint is showing through)? I want to replace it, has bugged me since we bought the car.

Can I just replace that, or do I have to replace all the rubber mat stuff?

That's a sill cover. Available in a set (does both sides) without the floor mats
Moss# 282-378 Bout $65

It's called "Fugly" until ewe install a new one!

And those glue down, or what? I wouldn't have to take anything out to install them? I could do it myself, right?

Can you get the rubbery floor mats too? Because mine are sofugly.

erm... I would reckon you could do it on your own... especially after all the other things you've done on your own. This ought to be a cake walk, IMO.

I find it disturbing on just about every level Noonie, that I have to look at a young, dorky, badhaired Mark Hamill whenever you talk.

I haven't done that much on my own. That's why I asked. If it requires taking seats out, not sure I can do that on my own.

Seats: 4 bolts - 1/2" wrench....push seat all way back, remove front 2, fold seat back over, push seat all way forward & remove back 2 (you can remove back 2 first & front 2 last if you want)...lift seat out!

Oh, disconnect seat buzzer wiring!

I don't have seat buzzer wiring you silly Yoda.

So I really do have to take the seats out huh? And just glue 'em down with that good blue goo stuff in a tube?

Of course you can do it yourself. Do the pass side first then if you have to stop and think awile you still have a driver.

You should be able to staple them down Janel. Just look for the rust spots.

FWIW, my B has black carpet covering the sills instead of the rubber covers. That might also be something to consider.

bah, just sawzall them out and tape the new ones in with black 200MPH tape :thumb: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

oh, as for Mark Hamill... well... I decided the "Corvette Summer" Corvette was a too badly butchered Corvette to use as my avatar after about a week. Especially, after I got a few very good looks at what they did to the front end of it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif Just 'cause you pointed it out, I may leave Markie up there just for you for another week or so... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You don't have to remove the seats to do the sill covers. It would make it a lot easier though. They just glue down, 3M super trim adhesive.
The floor mats, you have to take out the seats to do the rear
the fronts and rears are sold seperatly, and for some reason the Moss catalog lists them for 68-76 only.
If you take out the seats you may need new "packing strips".
They are the wood pieces that are under the seat rails. They often are pretty rotten, as they take a lot of moisture.
Moss part # 228-170 "bout $5 a piece. Ye need 4 altogeather.

Still in quandary over rubber vs. carpet on the rails here. Carpet holds moisture, but "breathes" and the glue-on rubber keeps moisture UNDER itself... I lean toward carpet.

I'm also going to replace the potmetal "spacers" under the seats with nylon: 3/4" DIA. dowel from a hobby shop, cut to 1/2" length. And 1/2" plywood for the strips. Herself needs a bit of a "booster" seat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Doc - in 1976 BL finally realised that & started putting carpet on them...

oh, contact Gerry Mastermann down in Louisiana - he makes an aluminum strip to go under the seats of an MG that raises them just enough for Jerri.

Yup. I've replaced a lot of 'em with carpet, another reason I will likely do SWMBO's with it.

We're on a "negative budget" here now due to my frellin' eye surgeries, so the MG is gonna get "imaginative" parts replacements. Down to "make do" so it'll have to be plywood and nylon for a bit. All the "non-critical" bits can be upgraded later.

Eye surgery? What's going on Doc, did I miss something?

Does the term "detached retina" conjure up any images? "Nose down attitude" for eight weeks... NO DEVIATIONS. T'was nasty around th' hovel fer a while. Back in July/August. Now it's the economic recovery we're workin' on... no insurance fer me, y'see. Ouch.

Durn Doc. I didn't know that.
