There's no heat material on your heat shield!

(I know - you wanted us to see that the fuel regulator is gone)

But you need to get some of that 'asbestosy' stuff pop riveted to your metal heat shield before your ful boils in summer
 
Phenomenally. And I figured out what the clunking noise is. It's not the filter vibrating against the power booster. It's the exhaust manifold vibrating against the steering.

You know, I asked Chuck when he was leaving for guys night at the garage, 'Could it be a motor mount?'
 
It is the motor mount!
 
woohoo sawazall it out and weld the motor straight to the chassis! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif I'm only kidding no need to sawzall it out... *snicker*
 
I bet a new set, then, would even get the carbs off of the brake booster! On mine, the crank pulley was touching the front crossmember before I rplaced the right one. (I still need to do the left one, but only when my MGB is no longer my daily transportation!
 
Now, get some padding on that heat shield!
 
So it's a broken motor mount? On a 1-10 scale, how 'easy' a fix is that?
 
And please tell me we don't have to pull her engine.
 
Not the engine, but the steering rack. Probably a 4... Given replacing rusty sills, or replacing the whole wiring harness is a 10, and waxing the car is a 1

At some point it'll lay over & do like Kenny said - the harmonic balancer will start rubbing the steering, possibly slicing the steering rack tube wherein the 90weight gear oil lives...the harmonic balancer is harder than the steering - guess which one will give out first?

Or, the harmonic balancer will start rubbing the body of the car
 
Mine was centered over the crossmember. And it left an ugly scar in the cardboard panel down there - and broke 2 belts before I realized I could no longer get a top-cog belt in there.

For the passenger side on mine, I jacked up the car as high as I could get it with the MGB jack, and stacked boards under the engine... Then let the car down. Raised the engine nicely... And kinda sound like something JDW woulda done.
 
Ahh, come on guys. In a bugeye you just replace em no removal of anything. Really, it's a prob with a B?
