Queer things.....

A list of queer little things that have happened over the last month whilst getting the TR6 ready for summer enjoyment:
1. Bought three ZS carb gasket sets from Vicky Brit to overhaul my 3 carbs. Had to get six sets to make three complete ones, so many missing parts from each sealed set.
And they were upset at me!
2. Replaced all hoses with new, wanted to go with the silly little wire clamps that are OE, four leaked so badly and coated the whole engine bay with antifreeze that I went back to band clamps everywhere. Start over after cutting three hoses trying to stop the leaks. Who invented those clamps?
3. Thought I had trimmed my new Falcon header to fit, looked good, set the GoodParts intake off just enough to torque the shafts in my carbs. Start over, again.
4. Discovered my battery tray had a crack, battery leaked, paint don't like acid. Bought a gel battery. Refinished the shelf. Start over.
5. Wife ticked off that I have spent so much time under the car for the last month, in the dog house. Wish I could start over.

Are we having fun yet?

Bill,
It's part of the process. Boy meets girl, boy meets car, boy pisses off girl, boy buys girl flowers & gets to play with car.
enjoy

I try to keep things as original as possible but the wire hose clamps have to go. Their only redeeming value is that they were originally cheap. Even worse on the older cars was the cotter pin/windup strap type hose clamp.

I've got my wife in college for the next two years, she studies, I play with the TR. She'll graduate right about when it's done.

The one advantage to being in the dog house is you can set up a cot and sleep out with the car. This way you can work on it untill you go to bed, and again when you first wake up.

Yes, I had a "new poart failure" this weekend. Have been rebuilding the brakes over the winter and went to bleed the system when it started hemmoraging from the connection into the PWDA. Both the PDWA and the brakeline to the (also new) master cylinder are new and the connection refused to seal no matter how much I torqued it up. As I mopped up the leaked brake fluid from the engine compartment, I was very pleased with myself for having chosen to use silicone fluid!

Back to the parts order form!
