This morning when I leave work (I work "Tour 1", or Graveyard), I will be taking most of my stuff with me.

I am going to be on sickleave for the next 7 months, and then I will retire.

My wife told me not to grin too much...

Good for you. Welcome to the 'other' club.

Well, welcome to 'life'....the only bad thing about retirement is we have to wait so long to enjoy it!!

Now, that sounds just slightly onimous for someone who's about to be spending a lot more time at home..... :jester:

Has she been preparing a "list"????

Actually, my wife has made a point of NOT making any lists. Which is really nice of her since she won't retire for another 9 years (I was a cradle robber :yesnod:). She just wants to know when I'm going to be gone and for how long. I just want to make sure our weekends are free.

I will be working part time for REI, some Archeology work (I have a BA), and learning auto upholstery.

you are going to be soooooo busy now, you may wish you had stayed at work :wall:
Welcome to the fixed income crowd.

CONGRATS!!! Being 'retired' is simply a new word for being busier than you've ever been. Would I return to work? Definitely not - there isn't enough time left in my day to find time for a 'job.' Surprisingly in the past year I've been approached three times to return to the work field and I'm an 'old lady.' Didn't take me long to say, thanks, but no thanks.

Congrats!

I'm at 25 yrs to go and counting myself... what me, jealous?

Welcome to the world of retirement in which every week has One Sunday and Six Saturdays.

I am so busy now that I don't know how I had time to go to work before.

Best Luck to you!

But now he can do what HE WANTS TO DO on HIS schedule. When I retire(if I don't keel over first) I will be busy as a beaver doing what I want to do when I want to do it. ENJOY!!!!!

Don't believe it, it is the honey do list that keeps you busy

Yes, at first it was like that, then I started restoring a TR6. Now when she asks, "When are you going to work on the car?", I responded "I don't really feel like it, but OK." Slump out of the house with a big

on my face. Still make some time for the honey do's just to keep her happy.

REI is an outdoors sports/camping/activity type store for all you couch potato and garage grub types.... I can use those terms because I too fall under those categories from time to time! LOL But I do get to see the sun occasionally as well!

It is, indeed, THAT REI.

I helped open the local store, but had to quit when they put me on graveyards at my real job. Loved working there, good people to work with and for. Good benefits even for part time employees (health insurance, 401k, discounts).

Hi Folks,

What a pleasant thought! "RETIREMENT"!

I had an Uncle who worked for the State of PA (Dam Construction or something like that). These "Government" jobs are just great.

He had "Accumulated" over 1yr. of sick days & about 30wks. of Vacation time. He decided to retire (Retired Early cause he used all of that time)which worked out to be nearly 2yrs of paid time off. "Not Bad"!

I`m 7-1/2mo. away! "Can`t happen fast enough"! I`ll probably be spending the rest of my life in the garage playing with somesort of project.

Best Wishes & Enjoy,

Russ
