Well I'm on my 3rd switch for the week and I need somthing that will last. First one died for unkown reasons. Second one fell apart after 20 miles hopefully the third will last a bit.

Do any of the suppliers have a quality switch available for a 73? Previous ones were moss.
 
That's amazing. I'm still on my first brake light switch...the one that was on the car when my dad bought it in '73. They definitely don't make them like they used to.

This is why I have trepidation about buying "new" parts to replace worn out ones. Sometimes the new ones are in worse shape than the originals!!
 
Hydraulic or mechanical switch? If hydraulic, anything but Lucas repros should be fine. Ron Francis sells a great one, or pick one up from your local auto parts store. There have been reports of good service from switches made for Volvo and GM. All you care about is pressure and thread, unless you're after absolute originality in which case good luck! :wink:

I have to disagree with the above, unless the Echlin switches carried by NAPA is included in Lucas repros. The Echlin switches I have gotten from NAPA never lasted more than 3 or 4 months without a relay added to the circuit.

If hydraulic, DOT5?
In another marque, we had nothing but problems (six months max) with DOT5.
They now have sealed units to fix that for that marque.
