I'll put up stuff about the PVGP race elsewhere; here's some photos of the race car cruise plus static paddock shots:

Very neat!

Jay! You're so close you could smell the exhaust fumes! You goin' over there?

great pics - and some unusual cars! in the first few, are those the rest rooms in the background?

Nice set of photos Nial. There are some really neat cars in that bunch.

Haven't ever made it, I'm embarrassed to say. One of these years Doc. With Nial's photos and videos, the hook is set, just gotta do it.

Nial, there is a racer by the name of Alan Patterson there in Pittsburgh. I am trying to figure out if he is the father of my childhood friend Alan and his brother Chris. By any chance do you know him? I'd like to get in touch with them if they are the right family.

Peter:

I raced hard against Alan Patterson today (he has a Sprite....we had a great battle). He is roughly my age. His Dad is also named Alan Patterson (I think). The Dad is one of the founders of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. He is very well-know in Pittsburgh. Generally his family brings several cars along with a giant sign that says "Patterson Clan". They also bring a bagpipe band that plays during the lunch hour. They are quite a crew! I can ask Alan tomorrow about "Peter Hays" if you wish? Were you in Pittsburgh back then?

His dad was, IIRC..

Nial, yes, please do. Alan and I were classmates at St. Edmunds "back in the day". They live(d) on Edgerton Avenue. It would be great to get in touch with him again. Thanks!

Nial, got it and thanks! :D

Thanks for the photos!! I was there, walking the paddock on Saturday. (In the rain...) Sunday I was on the park side, watching the race. Great time!

Do you know what car 57 started out as? I think Saab, but am not sure.

Mike:

That's George Vappa's SAAB Quantum. It was part of a series of experimental cars built by SAAB USA in the late 50s.

There are various versions of the Quantum. George also has a nice open-wheel Quantum that looks like a Formula Vee. Most Quantums used the 3 cylinder 2-stroke SAAB engine but later versions had the V4.

I believe he found in a barn in upstate NY.

I talked to George about the car on Saturday. He had it on display at the Simeone Museum and Dr. Simeone told him to leave it "as is" and not restore it.
He had already decided that he was not going to take away it's "patina" but he told me it was nice to hear someone else agree with that decision.

In case anyone else is wondering what we're talking about, it's this car.....

Did anybody get pictures of the British car Day "Mud Bog" on Saturday?

No pictures but I just washed the mud off my van and trailer from that. The paddock area was a mess and my van is two-wheel drive. Towing the trailer through some of the wetter areas created a lot of wheelspin and flying mud. I bet the car show area was bad too.

The pictures of them under the cars working are my favorite. Thank you for posting sir.

The guy working under the black #948 Bugeye is a member here at BCF (Jeff).

He was repairing a clutch slave cylinder.....a tough job under the best of circumstances. Eventually he went over to the Mini Mania guys and they gave him a new slave cylinder for no charge! Great guys (and their Minis are super fast). They came from Calif. for this event.

Here's some shots my wife took:
