Could someone recommend the best adhesive for the rubber seal to the pvc transmission cover? The PO used silicone which did not stick very well. Thanks in advance.

It’s been a while but I think I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive, a type of contact cement.

I second the 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. It's tenacious stuff, and comes in black or yellow. Years ago it only came in yellow and was know as monkey snot.

Yep, monkey snot is the best and rough up the PVC with 60-80 grit sandpaper, clean with something like prepsol before and after sanding to get rid of the mould release agent.

We always called it "yellow gorilla snot." Regardless of what you want to call it, it will work much better than an RTV siliconized rubber in this application. Since the transmission cover has already been hit with the siliconized stuff, cleaning will be critical to form a good bondline so don't try and short cut that step, it is the most important one in the entire process of bonding under just about any circumstance but even more so given the history.
