Putting weatherstipping on windscreen

I am trying to put windscreen to body weatherstripping on my MGB, and was wondering if you have to remove the side windscreen posts to slide the weatherstripping on? I did not want to take the windscreen apart to do this, and I dont see any other way.
Any help would be appreciatedd...

I don't know of any other way!

If you have the assembly together already you may be able to set one side (end/edge) into place then get the seal in the track and trim... then use a popsicle stick to stuff the last bit into the channel.

As I've said before: I'd rather change three clutches in an MGB than replace ONE windscreen. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

...& if you're successful, we want video!

You're just EEVILE, Tony. Ain't no such video EVER gonna show up.

...I'm off to do clutch number two now. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

No, not me, Doc - you...somebody might've actually believed your previous post! hehehe

Truth to tell, I ~did~ manage to stuff one into the grooves with a wood spatula (made from a paint stirring stick) and silicone grease. Set the front edge first then used the rounded edge of the wood to inch-at-a-time push the trailing lip into the channel. Got *almost* all of it in, too... then wasn't satisfied with it, did the disassemble and started over.

Was it a new one or putting the old one back in?

Operative word is "almost"!

Its a new one...
Anyways, I have good news and I have bad news. The good news first. I got the weatherstripping on. It wasnt easy, I used liquid dish soap. Now the bad news. I now need a new windshield. I needed one anyways, but I was going to wait. (a little bit of fogging)
Thanks for the info. Its hard to believe MG made a windshield replacement so difficult. I take it, an autoglass company back then didnt just show up and plop a glass into the frame?
Anyways, the weatherstripping is on.

Video?
& why do you now need a new windshield?

A little too much pressure on the frame as I was moving the weatherstripping down the channel. It didnt just slide on like I wanted it too. I read that using liquid dish soap works, and it did until the last 6 inches or so. My fault totally. I was concentrating on keeping the weatherstrip in the channel at the beginning.

P.S. So with that said, I need a new windshield if someone has a cheaper one than the $149 moss and VB are offering.

hehehehe.....PM me with parts numbers
