I gots me a Durst DS800 Enlarger. BIG ol monster. fully programmable, auto focus, color head, large production capibility, the Rolls Royce of enlargers.... plus big ol box of chemistry (probably $500 worth) , easles, loaders, filters(even though they are built into the enlarger)and all kinds of Darkroom goodies...... Chemistry will probably all go bad before I ever get to use it.(any offers?hehehe) I love clicking away with my mamiya/sekor 1000 dtl. It takes nice pics. I gotta upload some of the B&W pics I took of the Aluminum Overcast B-17 when I toured it .

You can get replacements, Microtools sells them but they reportedly don't last very long (6 months or so), and you need 2 for the Ftn finder.

There are also S625PX (silver) batteries that are perfect replacements for the original batteries but they're 1.5v, not 1.35v. There's some debate about how reliable the voltage output is (as the voltage shifts the meter reading shifts too), but when the battery is relatively fresh that shouldn't be a huge problem. You have to recalibrate your meter though - that isn't a big deal, just use another meter/camera to compare to, loosen the set-screws on the ISO disc, and rotate it until the Ftn meter matches your second meter.

My solution is to use a D200 or D300

I tried some of these per a camera store recommendation and I only got 3 months out of a set on a Gossen LunaPro. I had a theory that the dry Las Vegas air did them in - they have this hole that remains sealed until you buy them and once you open it there is some sort of chemical reaction with the air that provides power.

I gave up and just did the "sunny 16" thing for years. With color neg film getting it in the ballpark was good enough.

Latitude to drive a Mack truck thru! :jester:

Actually Beaver Valley was the native stompin' grounds but plenty of time spent "over there" as well.

This was my first camera...

(Basically a Japanese/Rollei knock-off)

(Not the actual camera...Mine is somewhere in dad's house)

I used to haunt th' camera shop in New Castle. He had Miranda equipment in the store. The one in B.F. (where I actually worked) didn't carry them. I had to "order" the stuff. I've got a Yashica TLR on the bookshelf too.

Pat used to be my neighbor...

(Of Pat's camera shop in NC....[In front of the Black Whale Bar  ])

He lives 2 houses down from my dad now and still has a store in Volant.

My old employer went to work for him some time in the early '70's.

You likely know him, too.

Don. Nice fellas.
