TR2/3/3A PS Quarter Panel Repair - need a patch panel?

Hi All

I am cleaning up and have parts to throw away or give to needy restorers!

A while back, I purchased a rolling chassis (TR3B). With it included a half a body (rear) of the car. It was a rusty mess, but I kept a few panels that were salvageable. I have a passenger side quarter panel that is in good shape. These have a propensity to rust badly, so if you are doing a rust repair and need a patch panel, this would be very handy. This is a difficult panel to make from sheet metal as it is a compound curve (ask me how I know). You can purchase from TRF or others, but the sheet metal is expensive and you may only need the bottom part of the panel. Also, the TRF quarter panel I purchased and returned to them had very soft bends and did not look original enough for me. They were aware of the criticism on that stamping. No slam on TRF. They are great and give me very good service!

Here are photos of the panel. It looks sort of rusty but is actually in good enough shape to be cleaned up and welded to a car. Just needs a good bead blast to remove surface rust. It should weld in nicely as a patch panel.

PM me if you want this and we can discuss how I should cut it out for your use. No charge. You can buy me a coffee at the next Triumphest!

Hi Pat, any takers or are they still available?

Cheers

Hi David

Nope, no takers yet. I just have the passenger side. This is just the quarter panel skin that is usable. But as a patch panel, it would be very useful. I wish that I had it when I was fabricating my replacement quarter panels from sheet steel. That was a very difficult part to shape, with a sand shot bag and hammer, hammer and dolly. You could cut this to size and just weld it in.

Hi Tom
I'm just trying to give this away to someone. I need to start getting rid of old parts. SWSBO says that I can't start on the TR250 until I clean out all my storage areas and marry off my daughter. The wedding is late August. That's probably the easier of the two requirements to fulfill....

OK, Josh in La Quinta is going to take this off my hands. I'm delighted it isn't going into the garbage can and may be part of some nice TR in future months. Thanks

Pat

Glad it will be put to use Pat. It will be a while before I get to that area on my 59....

Cheers
