Proud Owner of a 1984 Series 2 SD1

I managed to find something very rare around here. A 1984 Rover SD1 VDP right Hand drive with Federal EFI.

The car was a personal import from Australia, and is in spectacular condition. The only thing I have done is treated the leather seats to a leatherique refinishing treatment.

Aside from that she is stock as can be /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

She goes perfectly with my exercise bike /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Very nice... Did you import it over yourself? Or someone else before you?

I'm actually wondering if this a car that Ron/Jason Hill (Beeton, Ontario) used to own, because I know they used to own a Rover SD1 of similar vintage

Anyway, if you haven't yet, you should hook up with the British Saloon Car Club of Canada, a very active club in Ontario dedicated to these saloon cars... https://www.bsccc.ca

I used to live in Barrie for about three years (2000 to 2003), in case you're wondering... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

No, this car came from Andrew Moss in Ottawa. He recently moved back to Australia and left the car behind.

I just saw the photos that you posted. Outstanding!! Beautiful car, you are a very lucky guy! I rather suspected that the Aussie market car would have been the same as the home market version.

It is, except that the Efi Intake Plenum is the Federal type as was used on the US Spec 1980 cars, with the flat head. Not the nice tall UK type. Though, my car had an engine rebuild in 98 and had the higher compression pistons installed.

I am looking at perhaps changing it out for a Hotwire 3.9 Type instead. It runs beautifully, so it is a toss up to just leave it alone.

The prefect scenario would be to find an MG owner looking for my Efi because it fits under the MG hood, and to swap them for a Hotwire type.

If it ain't broke..........

A valid line of reasoning.

Myself, I would leave well alone. If it runs beautifully, it is meant to be!

Looks like I'll be leaving it alone. BUT, I would like to find a good place in Ontario to get it tuned as well as it can be. Anyone in southern Ontario know a good place for tuning this engine?

Plenty of British repair garages in the Toronto area, and all over southern Ontario for that matter... I'm not sure who the best ones are... You could try posting that question in an area of the forum where the Ontario members might notice it... Not sure which forum would work best for that...
