Proper oil?

Still a little confused about this one. In 1960 Bugeye Sprite, should I use 20W/30 engine oil in engine and transmission (as handbook suggests) or 20W/50 as some members of this forum have suggested. Or does it make much difference.

Getting ready to change my oil....

Thanks.

Ed

I use 20W/50 in my 1960 Bugeye for the engine which is a 1275 and 90 weight in my transmission which is a Datsun 210 5 speed.
I use Valvoline racing oil that I get at O'reileys

Many thanks. I'll use Castrol conventional oil 20W/50 in my engine, and since I have the originall transmission, I'll use it in the transmission as well.

Again -- many thanks for the advice.

Ed

From what I’ve read, Valvoline had the highest ammount of zinc. I use Castrol 20/50 in both. I also mix 20% Lucas in the engine, trans and rear differential.

I use Pennzoil HD 30. I also add STP oil treatment in as well. This would be for changing the oil...I also use FRAM oil filters.
