I dunno...have you ever poured a 90wt gear oil in the dead of winter, or tried to shift a gearbox filled with same when the car is starting out cold on a 10 degree (F) day? Kinda like stirring cake batter or wall jointing compound! It's just something we Nor'easterners got used to over the years.
 
All good advice. I will consider all. But a good friend of mine who has worked on TR3s for many years avises me to stick with the Penrite as I am having no particulat difficulties, have no leaks, and don't have trouble steering. I will try warmin the Penrite a bit, however, to increase the "flow" and raise the front end a bit to work the steering wheel.

If, and when I start to have trouble with the steering, I'll probably have Randall's work done to mine.
 
Hi Don,
Can you please tell me which brand of 80/90 oil you use for your steering box and whether it is synthetic, GL-4 or GL-5. Thanks.
