Propellor shaft lubrication on BN1

What type of lubricant should be used on the grease fittings of the propellor shaft of a Healey BN1?

The manual specifically advises to use 'oil' and not grease. This seems to go against what I would suspect. Do you know the reason for this?

Hi Dave Russel answered this on the last forum and it got caught in the crack. Any good High temperature chassis type Lube will work just fine.---Keoke
