My buddy restored a late model Mini Cooper (not a MINI) and built a giant windup key that he can attach to the back, complete with slow-turning electric motor that he wired to turn only when the car is in motion. Too cute. It is detachable.
 
Try your local boat shop. There is a propeller on the maket that attaches to the reciever on the tow vehicle, when not in use. It is free turning so as you go down the highway it spins.

If you're going to put a propeller on a Spitfire, it should go on the front like this one. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Interestingly, (to me anyway, but I'm weird that way) Dowty-Rotol made a variable-pitch cooling fan for use on an MG. It may be seen in their little prop museum at their repair Station in Sterling, VA. Nothing ever came of it, I guess.
