It's on there cause it was the first one I picked up that fit.

Mine is just cleaned?

Jack, I'll get the correct Wix filter number for you tomorrow. They're sold by NAPA and consistently rank at the top of the filter studies I've seen. Fram, on the other hand............... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif
It's funny, when I saw the picture this morning, my first thought was "Get that Fram filter off of there!" I even mentioned to my buddy at the parts store this afternoon when I was buying oil and filters for a couple of my vehicles.
Jeff

Yep, kinda remembered all the discussion awile back but thought what the heck, this one gets changed preaty quick. Like to change the oil a lot on a new engine.

However I would appreciate the correct filter number for Wix.

Rob, that's all I run, too. Even on the race stuff.
Jack, I would think you'd want the best possible filter for the initial start up. That's when any tiny bits that were left in the engine from machine work and assembly will be trapped in the filter.
Jeff

NAPA Gold 1348 I believe.

Not cruel at all. Based on how awesome Jack's engine looks, I would not be surprised if his engine bay looked exactly like this when he is done. Keep up the good work Jack. I could only hope to have an engine look this good in my lifetime.

Went back and looked hard at that pic vping and picked up on a few things.

Generator should be engine color.
Hose clamps are incorrect type.
Valve cover has plastic cap should be metal.
Radiator overflow hose should be black.
Hood hinges should be black but I am not positive but preaty sure.

Otherwise, wish it was mine.

Wow you guys are good. I am not worthy of the bugeye experts.

I never really got caught in the conours (everything correct)look until I traded a race car for 1967 MGB GT that was for the most part was correct, and then for the first time in my life I started to care about such things. I never been show driven with any of cars being a racer and after attending few of these popularity shows, It appears being original doesn't seem to mean as much. So slowly I'll do with GT what I want, when the genorator gives trouble, it will be gone for more than likely a non original alternator, when the starter gives the first sign of trouble it history for a gear reduction unit. I just wrinkle painted an alloy valve cover and it looks great, it's going on the engine. Both the original and modified look becomes addictive once you start down that path. I think the most important thing is to please yourself, if it makes you happy, then mission accomplished.

Oh Hap, don't misunderstand me, I have nothing at all against improvements. In fact I do a few myself. I tend to think about them as things the factory would have done if they were around today and did not have a budget to watch so close.

Miss Agatha is not a trailer or garage queen in any sense of the imigination and will never see a show. However, if someone does not comment on things that are not quite correct a car that is very close and is beautiful looses in the longer run and the owner and the rest of the folks never know.

That said, I have seen some Bugeyes that are anything but orginial and yet are to die for. It all depends upon your intrest, willingness, and use of the vehicle.

Modify to your hearts content, make it yours, all that is necessary is for you to like it. That's what it comes down to "for you to like it".

Jack, I just picked up a filter for my 1275.
NAPA Gold, P/N 1034.
Dimensions:
OD of filter=2 7/8"
Length= 4 3/8"
Gasket OD= 2 3/4"
Gasket ID= 2 3/8"
Threads= 3/4 x 16

Hope this helps.
Jeff
