Hung a door. gesh.

First the door still had the hinges in it, got it from Tony to replace one that was battle damaged.

Had to drill the heads off the screws, then drill a releaf so I could slide the hinges out of the door with part of the screws in them then grind smooth and take em out with vice grips. Wow. About a two hour job.

Must have spent 3 hours getting that door and latch to hang and operate correctly. BINGO done with that one. As good as a Bugeye gets, even put the alum strip on it. Did you know the hinge to body screws and the hinge to door screws are the same, hehe. The new ones do not have a point on the end, much easer to install with em. Grinder works. Oh yea, part of the time was spent freeing up the backing plates, a bit of paint would not let them move to make proper adjustments.

Only prob is, and we had not noticed before that some DPO had cut a triangle out of the top of the door by the hinge, maybe half inch by inch. Guess my body guy has some work.

I would like to report that the mirrors (Harley ones mounted through the back windsheld bolt hole) do not hit on the door or the windscrean. Was a move I am real pleased with.

Tomorrow, another door I hope, should not be so bad. Heck I even know how to adjust the easy way now including the striker.

Well they adjust just like regular mirrors, but move on their own, no. Big bolt under neath and comes with a tapered peice to fit in the standard bolt hole. Washers and lock washers as well.

You puzzled me when you said they did not hit the door or the windscreen. I hope side-curtains won't be a problem opening the doors!

er, side-curtains, hits nothing.

Put the Harley mirrors on mine. Liked them very much, but did hit the sidecurtain when opening door. could not adjust in any way that this did not happen. Went to a door mount mirror to solve the problem.

New ones are 13 bucks each and have all the required washers etc.
