Has been an intresting afternoon. Hooked up a temp and oil pressure gage and taped it where I can see it.

Hooked up wireing for the fuel pump. No fuel, oh shoot. Found that the line from the tank to the pump had something in it that I could not get out. So installed a different line from my collection. Then I had a fuel leak so had to replumb the fuel pump. Darn engineers used oversize hose and poor spring clamps. So I had to do a bit of grinding and refitting and such with real fuel hose and double clamps like I did on my boat. No leaks now.

And then, and then. I find that fuel is pumping right through the front pump out the overflow. What do you want to bet I maybe put the valve in upside down or something dumb like that. Oh well quick check and yes it is a 3.5 lb rated pump.

Stay tuned for the further adventures of Miss Agatha.

Anyone have an idea how long it should take to get oil pressure? Like 30 sec?

Sounds like a sticky float needle valve if it's not upside down, Jack. And yep, thirty to sixty secs should give a reading although I have heard some stories about BE oil press. readings at idle speeds!

Float needle was upside down. Guessed that one right. Other carb seems fine but now I wonder.

When I rebuild an engine I always pull the plugs and disconnect the oil line from the block to the oil filter, and motor the engine over until I get oil out of the block, then I hook up the oil line again and motor it over on the starter again until I get some oil pressure. THEN I put in the plugs and try to start it.
