Valves adjusted, cover on, plugs back in. Boy does she turn over nice, smooth and with authority.

I have not run wires for the elec fuel pump yet nor do I have an oil prissure gage hooked up. No way I fire her without a gage in place.

All fluids in but for water, everything checked and double checked.

Wonder how long I can hold off. Vinyl for dash will not arrive for about 3 weeks or so, may be that long.

Jumps about on one foot.

Batt, plus to coil plus, coil neg to ground. Of course wire to Dizzy from coil.

What have I forgot guys? What am I doing wrong? anything?

Yep outside and fire suspression equip on standby.
 
Okies, going to hook up fuel pump elec lines and get ready for lift off tomorrow. I think.

Jack,

Have you polarized the generator? Also, unless I am confused (which would not be surprising), when you say battery plus to coil plus, I assume you are referring to a switched, i.e. ignition, plus voltage. Then the neg. side of coil goes to the distributor points, not to directly to ground. The ground for completing the circuit is internal in the distributor via the little grounding wire.

Ahh, yep, I got it right then. There are really no other wires to the engine in place so generator and such makes no difference.

I would recommend neg. ground (I did it)because it is so universal. If (god forbid) you should ever need a jump or have a problem, it "takes the worry out of being close"! Not really that much to the switch. Tach (electric) and fuel guage were the major concerns as I recall, besides battery, coil and dizzy.
 
The only thing I have to do is condition the generator to go from one to the other.
 
Chris at Spridget-tech was kind enough to help me out on this as I am also planning to do it.

Are SU fuel pumps bi-earthial? Mine is an AUF305 presumably from the Midget that bequeathed its 1275.

I now understand polarizing the generator, but how does the starter motor make the switch?
 
The starter motor does not need to switch, as it is not a permanent magnet motor. The field coil magnetism switches along with the armature magnetism.

My fuel pump only runs one way. Ground to ground and and the other side to hot. It dosn't care. If it won't run switch the wires.
