Progress-new thread Monday

Jack, a question occurs that I have not asked...is all of the clutch line hard or do you have a flex. piece/section to the slave? The reason I ask is due to front brake failure problems I had in the past where the flex. lines deteriorated from the inside out, showing no external signs of trouble but causing erratic hydraulic failure!

It is all hard line.

Think I got it scoped now.

When I bleed the clutch it does not suck fluid back up from the drain bottle that I attach to the bleeder. Line has a restruction.

When I tried to bleed from the MC side I got some black goop. Line restruction.

Guess it has to come out and be cleaned good.

Raceing bud comming over between noon and one and we will give the line a shot. Oh yea, he agrees with my assesment.

That was not it.

Think I will just call Moss tech tomorrow and see if anyone else knows anything.

Jack have you tried the adjustment at the master cylinder?..Might need just a wee bit more?

Hmm, will look at that again in the morning.

Do you have the short or the long slave rod?
Maybe pulling the engine you could have flatened out the line down by the tunnel.

1/32 to 5/32 travel on the clutch pedal before the activation rod touches the internal piston.

Orginal manual makes a point that this is very important.

Bet mine is not correct, hows yours?

Lost that bet, it was spot on.

Have the long slave rod in at the present.

Have not specificly checked the line for kinks. Sure did shoot a nice squirt of fluid in my hair today though.

I can find no damage or kink in the clutch hyd line.

Jack, I cannot help but think that the problem lies in the MC. It sounds to me like you are gradually losing hydraulic pressure, making it harder to shift! This would tend to happen as you reach higher RPM. In the lower gears you are in effect pumping the pedal through each gear, but by the time you get to higher RPM (when shifts are wider apart) you have lost pressure in the MC making it hard to shift! I still tend to think you may have a bad cup on the clutch side!

Got it. Was close to MC. I did not have enough clutch pedal swing.

The local LBC master mech. picked up on it right away and adjusted the MC rod length thus makeing the pedal swing longer.

CHARGE $2

How about that.

That's about the longest run Miss Agatha has had. Ten miles each way, wow. Lots of waves and folks wanted to talk at stop lights, and some of them young and nice looking.

Sure was nice to runout to 5K up through the gears. I recommended it for tension releaf. Engine is smooth, pulls well in all gears, lots of oil pressure, idles great, and sounds even better. Will make your toes curl.

Has been a long long road with some really strange issues along the way. Not sure how I really feel about haveing her finished but for the final body work. Bet I find something to mess with.

Think I am now ready for some more body work after the first of the year. Can't think of anything else to do that needs done.

Life is great at Christmas time when your Bugeye is ready to go anywhere, anytime.

Again appreciate all the helpful thoughts and hints. Special thanks to Tony and Moss for the fine service on so many parts as well as the others who contributed machineing strange bits, and providing unobtainium like brake adjusters, orginal vacumem advance, orginal new choke button, clock, engine back plate, and other items as well.

Nice work, Jack. It's your driving season now (snow storm here today), so get out and drive! In a couple months of driving, you should have any remaining mechanical issues sorted out. A nice place to be, for sure.

OKAY Jack!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif Now it's time to think about trips /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif and car shows /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif and such (and that sign we talked about way back when!!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Yep yep, just came back from a drive, like I stole it. All's well with the 7/16 nut in there, now I am a PDO. Hehe.
