Progress-new thread Monday

On my old Mini (with the same type door latches)I found that if you rub "Door-ease" on the latch pin (lithiam based wax) it will do wonders on how well the door closes.

Hi Jack, yeah carpet will work, but it also holds moisture that can start rot. While not as cheep I might suggest you use a bit of Dyna Mat to quieten the doors. It will be imperviou to moisture.--Fwiw--Keoke

Yep, thanks Keoke. Something like that for sure. Just wish it was available localy rather than off some place.

Is this the record for most posts on one topic on this forum? I think we all love Miss A (and Jack too) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Not even close I expect.

But some one gave me a bit of a time for starting so many posts so just thought I would only have one.

hehehehe....

Well, it's my very own post. But I allow anyone to post on it.

What I think is interesting is that before you pulled the engine, there wasn't a big leak (as I remember from standing in your garage & driving her)...so, what's different?

Rings have not seated well Tony. I think it is not a leak per say at this point it is blow by.

Sure sounds like a lot of "blow by"...

Color me skeptical, but I've done rings and not ever had that kind of 'seepage'.

Sorry Jack, I hope I'm just skeptical and your leak goes away.

What do I know, seemingly nothing at this point.

However, if this fuel pump breather helps at all I surely will have a big clue. Otherwise I have a big hole in there and I find that hard to comprehend. Remember all cylinders checked at the same pressure.

Should know by Monday hopefully. If FEDEX delivers as they said they would.

Maybe next step is to put some air pressure on the block and see if I can hear the leak. Sounds free and quick, not sure how much pressure but I could start at a very low level like 10 lbs. Wonder if I blocked the current two breathers while engine is running if I could see a great increase in oil leakage. This is going to get intresting at this point. I would like to exhaust all my options before I pull the engine again. At least I would like to know what the problem is. Hard to fix somthing when you can't find the source of the problem. Shucks even new rings is not a big deal if that is what it is and I have and can hone my own cylinders if it is blow by. Guess I could get or borrow a new compression guage as well mine is very old and only shows 125 lbs all cylinders but it was reading about 40 lbs low when last checked. But they are all the same pressure. Shoot, beats me, press on.

Off to the races today, waiting on breather.

I'm with Rick on this one - sorry, Jack...I'm not as experienced as some of you other guys, especially with the little engines, but that sounds like an awful lot of blow-by!

Nope I am not and I think a leak down test will uncover the culprit.---Fwiw--Keoke

Jack - is there a LBC or (old time) shop near by? We keep trying to solve this one online but this might be a time to consult with a mechanic?

O man I really stepped in it there /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif - er um - of course we're all mechanics /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif (and all special in our own unique way /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif ) and as Forrest Gump says, "that's all I'm going to say about that" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

I even thoutht I was a Spridget mechanic, not as talanted as some here but able to at least build and care for my own. Sigh.

Looks like this is proveing me wrong.

Part did come, off to the garage today.
