Here are my photos from today. All those dark spots are where surface rust was...cleaned down to bare metal & the dark stuff is a treatment that kills rust & keeps it from reoccurring;

And the only panel that had to be replaced...old spot welds drilled out, new spot welds made, seam sealer just like original (oh, its the spare tire well)

'73 standard Bug...57,000 original, 1-owner (my mother-in-law) miles...always maintained by VW dealer or ME! Mechanically perfect...those tires were made special for it by Coker - they're the exact tire that came on it when we went to the dealer to pick it up new.

I think our guy has too much work Tony.

Don't tell anybody else about him! hehehehe

Great,

You guys are too much /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I know how to paint, I just don't have a shop mostly, sigh.

Ditto! Time's a problem for me...

I have to work between 9pm and midnight when the kids are in bed. When the time comes to do body work, I'll have to borrow my father's shop and work on weekends when my mother can watch the kids. And... if I want a really good paint booth I have to rent one on the weekend. So there are always challeges... but when it is done I'm always proud to say that I did it (even if it is not of the highest standard). My Midget's paint job is flawed, but I have no regrets and I look at it as practice for upcoming projects. If someone gave me the money to have it professionally done I think I'd have to turn them down...really.
