Tonight for the first time since 2004 I was able to sit in my own car seats in my own car and do up my own seatbelts. All installed all snugged down.

BTW I did an easy and reasonably helpful fix on the seats. Months ago I had purchased 2 1" thick foam pads from an upholstery shop $1.99 each. I really didn't have the ambition to pull off the seat covers or even replace the webbing so, I installed the pads under on the bottom - under the burlap. Took maybe 5 minutes per side, - just cut roughly to fit, rolled up and stuffed in. Not perfect, but snugged up the webbing and, I think, raised the seat level a bit - I'm happy.

Oh, and has anyone else noticed that Midgets are actually pretty small cars - especially when everything is installed?

I had always thought that were designed with the back yard mechanic in mind. Spacious and easy to access, especially with regard any under dash work, or for things like checking the tranny oil level and even if you want to inspect your throw out bearing ..... if you are 2 feet tall with like a hand that would fit in a thimble.

Since I am neither, these considerations on the part of the manufacturer evade me.

Have you ever noticed how many jobs require that you pull the motor? The running joke in my house is you need to pull the motor to change the radio station.

Yeah, and who's bright idea was it to locate the timing marks on the bottom of the engine!!
Let's see some pics, JC!

See, you should have kept that hi-performance 1500  timing marks are easy.

Pics will follow. I'm in the process of new tires and am going out of town for a couple of days, but, hope to have it outside very soon

BTW JC is my boss

dropped off the rims/old tires yesterday, picked up rims tonight - without old tires - painted inside of rims and will drop them off tomorrow. hopefully can pick up all with fancy new tires on Saturday on my way back into town. Also put coat #2 on steering wheel. shiny. BTW tires will be paid for entirely with Canadian Tire Money (which for neighbours to the south is scrip you get when you purchase parts/gas at Canadian Tire)

checked to make sure the stereo works - it does. Took a minute or three to figure out the static might be reduced if I plugged in the battery. I have to file the opening a 16th or so to fit right. job for another day.

then since Grey's Anatomy was a rerun, joined the family for Monopoly. The good news is that Top Gear now appears to be on nightly at 10 - BBC Canada
