I had two problems we think.
Old oil pump spewed alum bits into the oil.
The old strainer had, still has bits of hard carbon inside the strainer. I think that was the real problem.
The crank was standard size both mains and journals and that was the bearings I had in there. No damage to it but it will get polished and miked again. However the bearings are another matter, as bad as I have ever seen real rough, not worn, just rough. Have actual groves in them like the engine had a hand full of sand in it.
The carbon? or what ever was in the strainer is really tough stuff and just wiped em. Builder is going to cook the strainer and I have another as well I will check.
Now, clean everything real good again and reasemble with new bearings, should know what I need by monday.
Did not mark the cam lobes at all. But we will check cam bearing as well, it was new.
Note to self, check the darn oil strainer, the inside of it as difficult as it seems.
