As Holmes would say; "The Game is afoot."
I've sent my info the the local Community College to apply for an advertized teaching position in the automotive classes.
Scary huh?
Now we wait. I have some connections with the instructors there now, so may have a good chance. It's just part time- evenings, for now, so I will still be working for the Toyota dealer.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Kewl!

Check. Fingers now crossed.

Actually, you should be a perfect fit. I had five dealer "A" technicians working for me when I ran the automotive program at our community college.

I had other instructors too, but the dealer techs were always the best and the students preferred them.

Great Ben;

You will be perfect for that job. And all the students will love real world knowledge.
"GOOD LUCK"

Dave

I've always wanted to do that. Heir Instruktor was a great guy. I'd be cool to give back.

Real World Knowledge:

Instructor: This is an SU Carb.

Class: a what?

I: a carb.

C: this isn't cooking class, what's a carb?

I: It allows the fuel to enter the engine.

C: Not on my Honda.

I: No, on a Triumph.

C: This isn't the world cup, what's a Triumph?

I: It's a car.

C: who makes it?

I: Triumph.

C: A 70's Canadian Rock band makes cars? (obscure reference)

I: No, a British car.

C: A Mini?

Oh never mind (runs crying from room)
:jester:

Who's on first, MGs on second, Triumph's on third....
I like the way you think JP. hahahahaha

Cool Ben, Good luck.

You guys reminded me of this weekend when Autozone had a five quart free filter special. I was changing the oil on one of my Jeeps and had a filter for it, so I asked for 71 MG Midget filter, MG huh.

Okay lets try a 71 mini, huh, okay a 96 Jeep 4 ltr. Four Cylinder? No, six, 4 ltr. Okay got that.

Good I was starting to run out of cars, laughs from other salesman.

Once again ,good luck and teach them well Ben.

Good luck, I think you will really enjoy it. I taught part-time at the local area tech college for several years. The day classes were fun because the students wanted to be there. But the night classes were the most fun. The night students were older, had an intense desire to learn, and they had a lot of experience to contribute. Made teaching a challenging and rewarding experience.

Teaching aircraft mechanics was a most rewarding, frustrating, fun, and difficult job.

I agree, the older students are a joy to teach. Give me a class of retired aerospace engineers and mid-life career changers and I'm in heaven.

With many exceptions, the ex-military mechanics and recent high school graduates were the worst-behaved.

It was a wonderful job. Good Luck, Ben.

Ben,

I'm sure that you'll get the job
Then you'll be able to buy another British
car (a running one this time).
