Each year, I take the day off of work for my birthday and play old car. Here's what I did for my 41st birthday yesterday:

1. Topped up the Healey's transmission fluid.
2. Installed an emergency bonnet release on my girlfriend's TR-6.
3. Installed a new interior rear view mirror on said TR-6.
4. Balanced and tuned the Tiger's carburetor.
5. Set the TR-250's static timing.
6. Topped up the TR-250's dashpots.
7. Replaced the TR-250's anti-squeal shims on the front brakes.
8. Replaced the broken radio aerial on the TR-250.
9. Replaced the glass on the TR-250's exterior rear view mirror.
10. Put new spark plugs in the TR-250.
11. Put air in the tires on the Tiger and the TR-250.

Not a bad day's work!

Hey, My birthday is in two weeks, and I'm just up the road from you! Wanna take another day off?

GOOD PLAN, Larry!!

Man, where's the pampering? The foot massage, the breakfast in bed?

Eight uninterrupted hours in the garage *is* pampering!

But there was also pampering! My girlfriend made dinner, a homemade birthday cake with buttercream (yes, homemade buttercream) icing, and she's taking me away next weekend! All in all, pretty darn good. Oh, and I did get a foot massage too. That concrete garage floor is hard on old guys like me!

Sounds good, Larry! What's your Healey need?

BTW, is your car a BN4 or BN6? Might match my BT7.

Hi, Bill - I was just kidding you, Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had (or are having) a great one!! Ours is a Longbridge built BN4. At the moment it's halfway through the process of carpet installation. My biggest problem so far seems to be (like everybody else) allocating blocks of time to work on it. Spring is doing it's thing, and the tasks around the house and yards just seem to be overwhelming at the moment...time management never was one of my strengths!

Sounds like a great way to have spent a birthday. Well done!

Happy Belated Birthday! I think that's a fine way to spend a special day.

"Send picture of boat."

Heck, that's all you did? If I were 41 again, I would have at least replaced the floorboards that morning, before breakfast. Now, pressing 63, it is a challenge to get out of bed, or sleep, or.....

BTW, what color is the GF's TR?

Mallard green with a black interior. Interestingly enough, according to the British Motor Heritage certificate, the car was delivered in West Germany but ordered and delivered with a speedometer showing MPH rather than KPH -- our assumption is that it was purchased by a serviceman in 1971, and then he brought it home with him. It's a great machine, and I'm very jealous of the overdrive.
