when an automobile this size..

MGphone1.jpg

..takes up a space this size.

Yeah...ain't it fun!

But one thing related to this that bugs me: I'll park my "little" car (Miata or MG) nicely in the center of space.

When I return, I'll find that someone in an overbloated "passenger" vehicle (usually the size of a small school bus)
will sloppily park their crap-pile so that part of it is in my space!
Do the idiots think they "have permission", since I'm not using the full space?

If I had one of those big, stupid gas-hogs, I'd at least make an effort to park it properly. Really bugs me.

On a more pleasant note, your car looks great!

Back in the late 80's I had a 1500 Midget, worked at a construction site, the carpenters thought it'd be funny to carry the Midget into a one stall garage and leave the car lengthwise in it. Then they all left. It was funny. I found one other guy who helped me bounce it straight enough to get out. Stupid carpenters.

Sounds like the the classic chicken and egg story - Is the vehicle big because MacDonalds supersizes or does MacDonalds supersize because the vehicles are big?

I think we should be allowed to park in a motorcycle spot since most of them are bigger than our cars. anyway I really like the way your car is looking without the bumpers, sidemarkers and turn signals. I am thinking of doing the same. keep up the good work.

I went to park my Mini in a downtown parking lot and the attendant came over to take my money. He said $20 (this is Chicago!) and I said how about half as I am only driving half a car! He laughed, but still had to give him $20

<span style="text-decoration: line-through">I won't tell you in public how I handle those SUV's that park across the line</span>

I sometimes spot SUV's that are parked right up against the line or over into another space - everybody else leaves those spaces empty......not me....first, I fold the passenger-side mirror of my big Dodge truck in against the door & then I get my truck so close to their driver door that it won't even open a crack - then I go into Joe Muggs or whatever outdoor cafe is in view of my truck & sit down to read a magazine & relax while Jerri shops.....so much fun when soccer mom in her flitty little sun dress, buggy full of purchases & 2 rug rats in tow gets to her car....hehehe...you need to see one of them try to load everything, snap the kids into their seats when one seat is behind the driver door & the other seat blocks her ability to get to it & then crawl over the center console in that little dress.....hehehehe...I've actually drawn a crowd of other guys remarking & laughing about it!

you bad sir. But then I knew that. Can I help.

When I was driving the "Earl Scheib Special Bugeye" back in High School, I would often get to the local movie theater and find that all of the parking spots were gone. Usually somewhere in the lot there would be a Mercedes (or some such car) parked in two spaces. Problem solved! I would pull in next to the driver's door of the offending car and climb out over the back of the Bugeye. Let the jerk climb from the passenger side.

I've been sitting alone drinking coffee, reading a magazine & watching my truck when some guy at another table comments out loud, <span style="font-style: italic">"Will you look at that?"</span> I'll look up & lean over to tell him why I parked so close but always within my space...sometimes he'll get up & come over to my table & we'll strike up a conversation - seems every guy in the country has been affected by parking space hogs & love seeing them get theirs!

There's a local parking lot has has spaces for "Economy Cars"...too small for anything but a Miata-sized car - length & width - at the end of one of their narrow lanes & still SUV's will squeeze into them.

I think I'm hijacking this thread, but this reminds me of one of my favorite pastimes. We live in a small historic community (300 folks) that all kinds of tourists visit on weekends. Our house sits on a corner of the main (and only) street, and an alley that leads to some small shops. We have a stone parking area big enough for three cars (our cars) along the side of the alley. Often on weekends we'll come home and find a strange car plopped in one of our spaces. What I do is pull our car in lengthwise in front of theirs, which blocks their ability to get back onto the alley. Then I go inside our fence and sit on the back porch and wait for the inevitable visit from the car's owner. The first thing I always say is "What makes you so special that you can just park in a private space whenever you want to"? They usually say that they thought it was public parking - right in front of my Private Parking sign, or that they were only going to be a few minutes. If they are polite,I let them out right away, if they are a pain in the ***, I sit there and stare at them for awhile, to see what they will do next - sometimes it's pretty amusing!

Jack, I am sure Tony will let ya pull up a chair.

In my private community I live on dead end block and there are two spots in front of my house. This guy from across the street who has two cars takes up both spaces with one car, so when he can't find a spot for the other he has space for it.

His car has been hit, keyed and he still does the same thing.

When he rants to me I tell him to rent a garage.

And here all this time I had thought we were supose to use the motorcycle spaces.

The Wing Commander and I at Luke AFB had a deal, I coule park sideways with my motorcycle in the front of his spots on base and he had a lot of them.

Strange the things you remember at times.

That is without question the coolest little truck.

Very nice of you, but she did have her warts. I drove her daily for about two years, but Summertime in Tennessee made the car feel like the hot-box straight out of <span style="font-style: italic">Cool Hand Luke</span>. I eventually sold it, and went back to the Saloon style Mini. More photos for you:
