Problem with engine speed

As some of you may have seen, I got the engine of my TR3A running today, YEA!
However it doesn't run above an idle speed. When I flip the linkage over to (what I would think would be a higher speed)nothing happens. It remains at a low speed. In other words I get no acceleration out of my engine. What did I do wrong? What would make that happen? I have new throttle bushings on the carbs. (SU H6) but it just will not accelerate. I put the carbs back together and followed all the steps in the SU carb workshop manual. I messed something up, probably, but what? How do I trouble shoot the problem?
Any thoughts or suggestions greatfully accepted!

Aloha Dick,

First I suggest you check if the throttle plates are openning when you flip the linkage. Then make sure the pistons are moving freely in the suction chamber. Perhaps there is a loose fitting in the linkage where it clamps to the throttle shaft.
