i have a 76 tr7 with dual zs.when i start the car up with the choke its fine.when i gradually push the cable in it gets hard to push in and the car dies out.it feels like the cable gets stuck or jammed up.it only will stay idled if the cable is atleast half way out.has anyone had this problem before and do you think i should replace the cable.i am not really familiar with these carbs so any info will help.thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

Wedge problem with choke on tr7

Release the cable from the choke mechanism on the carb itself -- try to manually adjust the mechanism, if it gets hard to push, then there's an issue with the carb itself (such as a gasket is warming up and expanding in the passage.)
Chances are that the cable is kinked AND something else is happening like...
Check the rubber mounts for the carbs, and ensure they aren't splitting. (Take a flashlight and beam it at the mounts while you push on them a little.) It's possible there's a separation there, and the extra air it allows in requires the choke to be on to compensate.
If that isn't the case, enrich the mixture or bring the idle speed up. (Or simply reset the synchronization, mixture and speed entirely.)
