problem installing steering wheel

Four years ago I purchased a Moss repro adjustable steering wheel for my 1960 3000 Mk1.
I finally got around to installing it this past weekend and it will not go completely on. It goes about 1/2 way on the spline but then jams.
Has anyone installed one of these?
Any help is appreciated.

Forgive me if you know this, have you loosened the collar on the hub of the wheel? That's what allows the wheel to lock into place.

3 years ago, I bought a tourist trophy and an adjustable hub. I couldn't get it all the way on the shaft unless I unscrewed the locking collar and removed it. I had to grind off some metal under where the locking collar grips the metal fingers on the hub. It was a royal pain. I should have returned it but
" made it fit " instead.

thanks for the tips.
I did have the locking collar removed and it goes over the split spline area fine and into the full spline a bit then jams.
I will probably just do a bit of filing to make it fit.
