I didn't see anyone comment on the very nice Primrose 67 Sprite on BAT last week that went for $11,500 nice to see they are finally getting some respect. A couple of Midgets on BAT this week as well. All of our cars are trending upwards finally.
Being the owner of another primrose '67 Sprite, it was encouraging to see that price. The car look nice from the top side but they didn't spend much effort under side. Also it was hard to be sure from the photos but the door panels looked wrong.
I saw a early seventies Midget go for something like $14,000 on BAT a year (fuzzy) or so ago. I thought this one https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-mg-midget-2/ should have brought a little more because of the very original condition, and early square Spridgets are hard to find these days.
I think what is happening is as the Bugeye prices continue to head for the 20k mark and beyond, people are looking more and more into the Square Sprites as a viable alternative. While the prices are going up, they are still cheaper than the Bugeyes.
IMHO, we'll see more of this as time goes on. The first indicator was as I watched Porsche 911 prices go through the roof over the last few years. LBC's generally are a bit lower on the totem pole but the trend will still be upward.
Rejoice! Hagerty just raised the agreed value of our humble MGB by $3K on moving it from Infinity. I'll not argue.
