Our horns are definitly original, the manual indicates they cannot be repaired.
I happen to have an accessory opening in the dash and am considering a horn button on the dash itself.
Anybody have an idea for a nice sounding horn and how it may be wired properly.

I like the 2-tone sound of the original horns -- though of course you can get anything from a Volkswagon beep to a Diesel train.

Wouldn't take the manual's word for it that they cannot be repaired. My attitude: "People made it, people can fix it". I have brought old windtones back from the dead... have never opened up the TR4's hooters but would think they are similar (simple but delicate & fussy).

As for the horn button -- is yours inoperable or displaced by an after market steering wheel? I like to drive with a thumb on the button in heavy traffic since these cars seem to be invisible to some SUV drivers.

My Spitfire has a set of VERY effective airt horns, excellent when an SUV can't see you because the Triumph is below window level.
Simon.

I'm with Simon - Add a little cheap insurance - A three bugle airhorn is easy to install, relatively inexpensive and FUN to use - Let em' have a blast and people really sit up and pay attention thinking there's a semi on their tail!

or you can get one of those from JC whitney... like 20 different horn functions, including police siren and machine guns. If you cant get people to move with a machine gun, you never will!

I had a friend with a 3 foot truck air horn in his honda accord, that thing would make any one with in 100 feet jump out of the way. The only problem was that the air tank in the trunk had many leaks and didn't last long.

Haven't you ever seen a picture of the LeMans TRS cars, with the "Sabrina" engines? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
