This is fun.
Try this:
New braking system complete, front, rear, pipes, calipers, alfin hubs, and all hydraulics.
New bored 20 over block with sleeves, turned crank with Vandervall bearings, oil pump, steel bridge, AE pistons, Deves rings, Kent adj. sprocket and chain, GP2 cam, shaved head (9.5:1), chromoly pushrods, valves, springs, roller rockers, al. valve cover, aux. oil line, al. water pump housing, water pump, deleted fan, triple ZS (Gary Martin) carbs, oil separator, fuel pump, distributor, Taylor wires, etc.
New Ron Davis al. radiator with dual control sensor, al. shroud, al. 16 row oil radiator with spin-on filter.
New British Wiring harness, all lights front, side and rear.
Cibie fogs with relay.
New suspension front with TRF steering rack, discs, Konis, comp. springs front and rear, bushings, rear alfin drums, Spax shocks conversion, emergency brake, U-joints, front sway bar, air dam, chrome strips and badges.
New TRF differential and TRF hubs
New TRF 4-speed with Quantum J-type overdrive, slave cylinder, TRF Magic Clutch.
New TRF interior and dash, Nisonger gauges, TRF steering wheel.
New Sunfast top, windshield, all window mechanical, custom roll bar with 3rd brake light and wind deflector glass, Sunfast top cover, seatbelts, VB bucket seats.
New custom paint, stripes and bonnet louvers.
New wiper motor, heater, overdrive controls and turn signals.
New Panasports with Michelin Hydroedge tires, new spare.
New grill, headlight and front turn signal assemblies, Amco NOS bumper guards front and rear.

I had the same Prob. with multiple layers of paint inside the engine bay. I did not remove the engine in the process of my renovation.
The trick is I used Speckle Trunk Paint Spray. (It give a textured finish)
(Very Durable!)
Not only does it cover well, but also acts as an undercoating.
It goes on easy and multiple coats blend very well.
Any Napa will have it.
