I just had some panels soda blasted, and the guy who did it says use Prepsol, made by Dupont I think, to prep prior to priming, where can i find this product, I know, its a degreaser, but I want to use this product.........
 
All paint manufacturers have cleaning solvents for preparing surfaces prior to coating.

Prep-Sol happens to be <span style="font-style: italic">one </span>of DuPont's.

People tend to use the name "Prep-Sol" as a generic word for surface cleaners, like "Kleenex" for tissues or "Band-Aids" for adhesive bandages.

Coatings are built as <span style="font-style: italic">systems</span>, products formulated to compliment one another. You'll get best results if you use products that are meant to be used together.

Read the primer's instruction sheets to see which surface prep is specified.

Your paint supplier should have the correct products. If you're buying a DuPont primer from a DuPont dealer, they'll have Prep-Sol.

I've not had any issues just using lacquer thinner or acetone. Xylol also works. All in WELL vented conditions.
 
Doc is correct, but Prep Sol is a lesser grade thinner and was always cheaper to buy than the good stuff. maybe not so today.
