Power Brake Bleeder Anyone?

I was reading through my copy of GRM, and found an ad for Motive Products, showing an interesting power brake bleeder, one similar to one I used while a truck mechanic in the Marines.

It looks pretty good for about $60, and it includes adapters to fit British cars.

Has anyone used these? If so, could you let me know your opinion of them?

I have used a power brake/clutch bleeder for the last few years that is very similar to the one pictured. However, I made it myself following these plans

It cost much less than the asking price, less than $30.00
 
Hey Biff,

That is a pretty cool article. I think I might give that one a go. I have a couple of spare MC caps laying around, so it should go pretty smooth. I like the idea of a pressure gauge in the bottle as well.

See, this is why I post stuff here, I can save money, and still get to take something that is working perfectly, and drill holes in it. :smile:
 
I have started making up my brake bleeder, and so far I have the bottle and pressure gauge. The bottle cost $9 at Lowes and the gauge I got at HF for $6. I have, I think, the other stuff I need, so once I get my Cougar fixed up, I can turn my attention back to the B' and my bleeder project.
 
I have the exact one.....pain in the behind! By the time you connect everything, hopefully with out spilling brake fluid everywhere, it would have been faster to do it manually. It might be useful if you did a lot of brakes, but for the amount of times I change the brake fluid in my cars, it really makes no sense.
I suggest you save your money and buy some speed bleeders.

Just another one of the many gadgets I have bought over the years that will clutter my shop until my kids have to deal with it one day.

I prefer a piece of 1/8" vacuum tubing with a 1-way check valve. Costs me $1.99 at the aquarium store. The automotive version with adjustable steel check valves are $10-ish on evilbay.

Hook it to the bleeder, pump the brakes, done.

Just me.

Even better idea...too bad bad I already bought the speed bleeders....should've checked here first.
Having had aquariums when I was younger, I should've thought of that one myself...I guess the age, alcohol and fast women are finally getting to me....well the age anyway.
