This is a trial post. I'm just trying to post pictures so I can update the forum on my clutch replacement. Hopefully a picture came through with this post! If not, I'll try again.

Please try again!!!

Instead of typing your reply in the box provided below, click instead on "Reply" in the 2nd little box at the bottom of this message and you will get a new box where you can type your message. Then at the bottom, you will see "File Manager". Click there and "browse" to add the photo, then click on "add photo" then on "finish" then on "submit".

Or, if like me you start typing a reply and then realize you want to use the fancier features, you can use the "Switch to Full Reply Screen" button to get the "File Manager" link.

FWIW, I also had to add BCF to my "Trusted sites" list in Internet Exploder to get the site to work right for me.

If you're still trying to upload a picture in your post using File Manager, I find it always works if the filesize of the picture is around 20k. Big ones usually don't work for me.

That's the problem, my pictures are to large. Now I need to figure out how to reduce the picture filesize.

And if you're on a Mac, just use Preview to open the picture, then File/Export and choose a filesize (I just use 20000 - always works for me).

Pardon my ignorance but I too have problems posting pictures. In fact none yet. I just tried the steps listed with no luck. After I click on browse and I find the picture I want there is no add photo box. The file size is 123kb.
Don't know what this means. Is it too large?

Not too large. That's a good size.

I may have been wrong about the file size. I tried one over 200Ks and it wouldn't take it. This photo is 128Ks and no problem.

Make sure you click on file manager for the add file window. The add file button is there.

Hmmm. I'd guess it depends on which version of Windoze you are (or aren't) running, mebbe even which browser you use. I use IE 6.0 on Win2K Pro, and after I click 'File Manager' / 'Browse', I get a "file open" dialog box with only an "Open" button.

And this file is some 2.8 Megs ... and evidently didn't work although nothing ever said so. Let's try a smaller one ... and a medium one ... and just a little bit bigger ... and bigger yet ... Aha ! That one produced the error message I've seen before, stating file size is limited to 250000 bytes. I guess if it's too much over the limit, you don't get the message.

Soup - what happens when you try now? Which browser are you using (InternetExplorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)? To post a picture:

1. Type your new post (or click Reply - not Quick Reply)
2. Type your text
3. Click File Manager under the text area
4. Click the Browse button
5. Navigate to the picture you want, then click it *once*
6. Click Open
7. The picture name shows in the Browse window.
8. Click Add File (the file is "sent" to the forum server)
9. Repeat 4-8 if you want to add more pictures.
10. Click Done Adding Files
11. Click Submit

If the filesize is around 20k the picture itself shows up in your post. If it's much larger than 20k you only get a "link" (in words) in the post; with a "link", you have to click on the link to see/open the file. Feel free to ask questions folks.

The problem I had last night was downloading the previously recommended microsoft resizing software, it wouldn't work for me.

I'm running a Dell w/ xp. It's not the latest and greatest but not junk either.

I'm gonna give the download another shot right now

Tom, I am doing everything you say above but can't get beyong the "Done adding Files" cause I get the error of the filesize being too large
