Post Sugery up-date. Priceless Reaction!

Couldn't wait to use this and decided to today.
I'm at the docs for the follow up and th e nurse walks in.

Nurse: "How are you doing"
VWP: "Fine. Never felt better"
Nurse: "Have you seen the doctor yet? Have you had your stitches removed."
VWP: "Well, I took them out"
Nurse: "you took them out!"
VWP: "uhh yeah. They were bugging me so I pulled them out"
Nurse: "Are you a doctor?"
VWP: "No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!"

My wife turns toards the wall and laughs histerically. I couldn't help laughing myself. Next thing you know she's in the hall telling all her co-workers "can you believe this guy took his own stitches out" blah blah blah.
5 minutes later a doctor walks in and asks me "are you the guy who took his own stitches out? My response "why yes. Is that a problem?"

Anoth 5 minutes go by and my doctor comes in with a big smile on his face "So Vince how ya doin?" We never talk about the stitches but he is very impressed at my progress. So far I'm almost there. I might not even need therapy.

I wish I had a camera on that nurses face when I told her and showed her my knee. In this day & age of Youtube youda figgered I'd a done it. My daughter did film me pulling out the stitches though /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Well sure, anyone who works on LBCs can remove stitches. A bit of pbblaster if they stick.

I had a similar thing happen after my back surgery. My GF is a Nurse, so she took them out when they started bugging me. I had a Nurse or Nurses Aid at my local VA hospital tell me that she (GF) couldn't take them out.

I looked over at her and told her to put them back in so the doctor can take them out. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif The VA people were not amused. I don't know if it was the drugs, but I thought it was funny.

I grew up in a family of medical pros. I can't figure why they were surprised.

*snip* pullll, on to th' next. feh.

Mum-in-law near severed the tip of her left index finger a few Easters ago, let out a yelp, I ran in her kitchen to see what'd happened. She about went down but I got her attention. ~SuperGlued~ the tip back, dressed it with Neosporin and gauze and she went on prepping for the horde with it wrapped. After the meal (many hours later) some of the other relatives INSISTED on driving her to the E.R...
A doctor took a look and asked: "Who put this back together?"
"My son-in-law."
"He did a great job! Is he a doctor?"
"...no..."
"Well, thank him."

I LIKE her: she FEEDS me well! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Superglue is great stuff for fixin a wound.

No drugs here. I tried my best and succeded in not taking any of my pain medication through this ordeal. Who needs it!

Good laughs over the pblaster line Jack /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I did this to my thumb at a friends place using a Mandolin (not the musical instrument I hasten to add). He's a wee bit squeamish, so wasn't interested in having a look.

If I tell you he lives in Greenwich, CT it won't be a surprise when I recount that his first call was to his lawyer to figure out his liability, and his second to his doctor to figure out what to do...

And no, I'm not kidding /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Re: Post Sugery up-date. Priceless Reaction!

Had an old Cajun here whose wife needed female surgery and he had no hospitalization insurance. Quite concerned about the cost, he asked the nurse as much of the details as he could understand; when the nurse said his wife would have to admit the night before to be "prepped" and all, the Cajun axed (asked) if it would be a problem if they just went in the morning of the surgery and that he could shave his wife himself, to save money. Shrugging, the nurse said, "Why not?"
So that night he had his old lady all propped up and lathered with Barbisol and started shaving away. After a while, he was struggling and his wife axed (asked) down, "Bebe, is der a problem?" To which the husband looked up to his wife and pointed to his own contorted face to the extreme, said, "Bebe, bebe, can you do like dat?"

Speaking of Holiday Inn Express.....

Had to look this one up (I'm a mandolinist, never know there was another type). Mandoline = juliennes things. Learn something new every day.

I've a home-made one here of Lucite, Drew... and some high carbon steel blades. Cole slaw is a Horsemits Specialty. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
