Earthquake and hurricane in the same week.....I am watching for locusts.
 That is exactly what my sister said yesterday. She lives near Alexandria, VA.

Never mind all that, if the frogs didn't get your attention.

Mark is on line now, we've not heard from Hap since before the 'thing' tho.

The Gt6 (frame, suspension, engine, and trans)went underwater, on Sunday. I have pictures...that I do not want to look at.

 :wall:

Hap's posted on MGE today, so hopefully that's a good sign.

Joel,

Really sorry to hear that, but glad to hear that you sur-
vived.Iwas watching the news at lunch,& saw video of Brattleboro
flooding.
Are you able to get to work?

We were lucky here. Across the street from our house they still do not have power. We only lost electric for about 2 1/2 hours. I spend several hours mopping up a slow leak in the basement, but nothing got damaged. Today we cleaned up small branches around the yard, and saw trees down in the neighborhood.

It makes me glad that our neighborhood is about 3/4 mile and well uphill from the closest creek which flooded once again.

Spent the day today (Springfield VT.) hoeing out the walk-in basement. The little stream between the neighbour and my self came up 15 feet. The flood came up so fast my choice was, detached garage with the British car, or the house (we moved the motorcycle up to the back yard). I wrapped the wood face to the walk-in basement in plastic, and dug up the hard-pack driveway to secure it against the foundation/stone wall seam. The water level came up three feet against the storm door covered with plastic. We were told to leave by the Fire department on ATVs. I told them (even though my Pontiac was under water in the carport), we only had a 1/2 inch of water inside(we stayed). Water seeped around one side of the stone wall and found a crack in the block wall foundation. We ended up with only 4-5 inches of water on the floor. It could have been much much worse. Our thoughts pr@yers go out to others in Vermont who were not so lucky. My business on Flat street in Brattleboro VT. can be seen on YOUTUBE. I find out tomorrow how bad it is.

We Got Slammed! I live just south of Rutland Vermont. I had the local FD knocking on my door making the suggestion i need to leave. This was about 1pm on Sunday. At this point i had not been paying much attention to the local brook. My home is located near a river junction (one of the few rivers that run north) I went out and started checking around and with the neighbors. It got bad real fast! If it had been just me i would have stayed and hung it out, but i have a signifacant other that has MS and 5 cats.... So we packed and split for Rutland. Barely made it too..

I have some pics and video of near the house- did not really have time to be taking pictures. Will attach a link.

I am a bit dissapointed in myself. I should have been better prepared. As it turned out we left just after the water crested. Another foot or so of water and i might not have a home any more.

The destruction around here on the secondary roads in just unbelievable. A couple from Pa. had just bought a farm down the road last fall and started a CSA. They were doing well and things lookin good- must have had about 4-5 acres of veggies and crops- The river took it all, every bit, right down to the rock bed. Cut itself a whole new channel. Just unbelievable.

ps the couple in the pic is my good friend and neighbor.

The link takes us to the opening (home page) for photobucket.

Not that it matters.

Pleased to learn you're safe. We're down to two cats, the hurricane plan is simplified by one.

Your house is intact? You win, sir. Stay safe. Is it really over in your area? We see stuff here indicating things ain't yet finished.

Any contact with Tom (NutmegCT) yet?

Kinda late, gettin' concerned.

No it is not over, Towns are cut off, and the infra structure is severely damaged. We will get thru tho. I was lucky - many were not.

It is not a good feeling having to leave and not know if you will be able to get back, or when.

We are still trying to figure out where we can and can not go. The main rout into Rutland from the south is route 7- bridged washed out- there are ways around tho. And we will get thru it.

jsfbond: Sounds like you got it worse than i did. Glad your(s) are ok. Sorry bout your car.....

Thanx, My wife and I are very handy at all aspects of home repair, so, all we need is that printing press they use in Washington and we're in great shape.

We're thinking about y'all up in VT -- I spent quite a bit of time up there growing up, spent 2 weeks every summer on vacation in rural (is there any other sort?) Vermont. Tough folk up there, sad to see the destruction.

My brother who is on the north shore of Long Island still has no power... they hope to get it back by Sunday!!!
